Alfa Romeo understands better than most automakers the importance of letting the driver enjoy the road with little intervention from various electronic systems. The pure essence of driving is an art that is being lost, and Alfa Romeo works hard to preserve it.
That said, Alfa Romeo also knows that you can dramatically improve the driving experience with judicious use of advanced technologies. If the tech is designed to enhance the driving experience, not deter from it, the overall joy of driving will also be enhanced. That's where the Alfa Romeo Chassis Domain Control system comes into play.
The Chassis Domain Control was designed in partnership with Magneti Marelli. It has one very simple objective and that is to ensure that every important system on the Alfa Romeo Stelvio or Giulia is set to optimal settings based on the driving behavior of the driver.
In more specific terms, the Chassis Domain Control system coordinates on-board electronics and how systems such as the DNA driving system interact together. Other systems that are coordinated through CDC include the Q4 all-wheel drive system, the active suspension system, and torque vectoring.
Separately, these technologies are designed to perform very specific functions. The torque vectoring system distributes engine power between the rear wheels. The Q4 all-wheel drive system is designed to provide optimal grip and distribute power between the axles to handle slippery conditions. The adaptive suspension adapts the damping depending on how the driver is behaving on the road.
All of these technologies, independently, function to create the best driving environment for the driver. Getting all of these systems to interact together in the best way possible is the CDC's job.
You could think of the Chassis Domain Control as the second brain of the Alfa Romeo, after the driver's. It analyzes what the driver is doing, and then adapts the settings of all of the systems described above as well as the DNA driving mode system to deliver the best drive.
With CDC, your Alfa Romeo understands what you are trying to do, and will adjust to guarantee the highest level of driving pleasure.
