While SUVs are growing in popularity, many drivers prefer to stick with the sedan for its smaller size and sportier dynamics. But not all premium sedans are created equal. The Alfa Romeo Giulia offers a great package: it comes with plenty of power and torque, sports handling capabilities like no other sedan can provide and has tons of style.
This year, the Giulia is back with more standard equipment, additional exterior colours and repackaged Advanced Driver Assistance System bundles, among many other things.
As you can see, the Giulia is gaining more traction year after year in order to stay competitive and provide a better product to its new and loyal customers. But some rival sedans seem to be stuck in time in terms of dynamics and overall refinement, the 2021 Infiniti Q50 is one of them.
A more powerful presence with the Alfa Romeo Giulia
With a choice of 17 exterior colours, three available appearance packages to choose from depending on the variant (Nero Edizione, Carbon and Lusso), and plenty of interior colour schemes for every model, the Giulia is way ahead of the Q50 in terms of exterior and interior style. Moreover, it deploys more space in the trunk than the Q50 - making it more versatile.
More torque and enjoyment at the wheel of the Alfa Romeo Giulia
The Sprint, Ti and Ti Sport variants of the 2021 Giulia are powered by a powerful 2.0-litre all-aluminum turbocharged engine that deploys 280 horsepower and 306 lb-ft of torque. While the base engine in the Infiniti shows a little bit more horsepower than the Giulia's base engine, it loses this advantage in torque.
All Giulias come with more advanced mechanical components than the Q50, like a carbon fibre driveshaft, 50/50 weight distribution and an eight-speed automatic transmission with available steering column-mounted aluminum paddle shifters with gear shifts in less than 100 milliseconds.
The fourth variant in the lineup, the Quadrifoglio, unleashes 505 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque using a Ferrari-derived, twin-turbo V6 engine. The second power option in the Q50 in the I-Line Red Sport is no match to this powertrain with only 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.
Beyond technical specifications, Alfa Romeo engineers have carefully calibrated every chassis and engine component on the Giulia to provide a better ride and overall dynamic than the Q50 - as well as every other rival in the segment.
