It's a big year at Alfa Romeo as we expect a new SUV to arrive in the lineup this year, the Tonale. The Tonale will be positioned below the Stelvio and will offer consumers one more option on several levels.
One of those options is to get their hands on a luxury model at a very attractive price. The company recently announced the prices of the two versions that will be on the menu and what is obvious is that you will get what you pay for.
With the base Sprint model equipped with the 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine offering 256 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, the starting price of the model will be $44,995.
Opting for the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) mechanical configuration, which uses a 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine and a 90 kW electric motor, offering a combined capacity of 285 horsepower, will run you $54,995.
This makes the Tonale eligible for government rebates. Stellantis confirmed that this was the case for the federal level ($5,000). It's only a formality for the provincial level, because the subsidy is available when the vehicle's battery is over 15 kWh. The Tonale's battery is 15.5 kWh.
With the Veloce variant, the starting price with the 2.0-litre engine is $46,495. With the plug-in hybrid version, the starting price is $57,495.
As for the electric range announced by the company for the PHEV livery, it is 48 kilometers, which is enough to be able to substantially reduce its fuel consumption. All-wheel drive will be standard with each model.
More details will follow on this Tonale 2024 when it hits dealerships, which should happen in the next few weeks.
